War Child’s work goes beyond providing protection and education for children during conflict.
We also deliver long-term, sustainable ‘livelihood’ support to young people and their communities – creating a more secure future and safer environment for children.
We provide vocational training and business skills to young people and parents/carers of vulnerable children.
We help with market research and feasibility studies, and we offer competitive start-up loans and grants to get small enterprises started.
Through the KATI Youth-led Social Venture we support employment and entrepreneurship initiatives for young people in northern Uganda.
KATI was initially set up by War Child UK, and after an award-winning pilot project in 2013/4 it was scaled up and established as an independent, youth-led organisation.
The collaboration between KATI and War Child has been developing fast – we helped launch 57 innovative business ideas in 2015, and are creating a dynamic network of young entrepreneurs across northern Uganda.
