Our work

What we do

War Child supports not only children but also their families, helping entire communities heal, rebuild, and create safer futures together.

We protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living through conflict.

War Child work in partnership with local organisations, providing emergency support such as food, clean water, hygiene kits, clothing, and blankets when conflict breaks out, and staying as long as needed to help children and families recover and rebuild their lives.

We share our evidence-based programmes and build the expertise, equipping local partner organisations with the tools and training they need to strengthen their teams and lead long-term support for children and communities, with our support.

Our work covers four main areas:

Protecting children

In times of war many children need specialised support. Some have been separated from their families, have experienced gender-based violence, been recruited by armed groups, or faced other extreme trauma. Through our trained staff and network of local partner organisations, we make sure every child gets the protection and care they need.

Educating children

Every child has the right to learn – even during war. War Child provide safe learning spaces, training for teachers, digital resources and essential teaching materials.

Supporting communities

Strong families help children recover from war. War Child support caregivers with job skills training, emotional support groups, and parenting workshops to strengthen family relationships and support their children's recovery.

Campaigning

We work to ensure that challenges faced by children are understood and addressed. We boldly campaign to influence global leaders and empower young people to raise issues and campaign for change themselves.
