Sudan

The conflict in Sudan is hitting children hard.

Sudanese children are living through the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

The ongoing civil war is having a devastating impact on families and children. 15 million children are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance in Sudan, with over a third of the population fleeing their homes.

Famine is already impacting large areas of the vast country and threatening to spread even further. Schools are shut and 17 million children continue to miss out on even a basic education.

War Child has been supporting Sudanese refugees in South Sudan and Uganda for over two years, but we are now working also in Sudan.

Our work in Sudan

War Child is working with trusted local partners to deliver life-saving support to children caught up in this conflict. By working with partners, we are prioritising child protection, mental health support, wellbeing and education in some of the hardest to reach areas in Sudan.

War Child’s work in Sudan started in April 2025 and we are now planning to introduce some of our key programmes, like TeamUp, which improves the wellbeing and mental health of children affected by conflict.

TeamUp

Through our TeamUp programme War Child are:

  • Providing mental health support through play and movement-based activities and psychological first aid through our network of safe spaces.
  • Training community leaders, partners and other stakeholders in core TeamUp methodology so even more children can benefit from this innovative approach.

Every child deserves to be safe — even in the midst of conflict.

We won’t rest until they are. But we need your support to make it possible.

Donate to War Child today and help protect children in Sudan and other war-affected regions across the globe.
