War Child UK is proud to announce that Everything Everything, Jon Hopkins and Tom Misch will be headlining three nights at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on the 25th, 26th and 27th November. All proceeds will be going towards War Child UK as part of their Learn to Live Campaign and Ticketmaster will be donating a portion of the booking fee.

The critically acclaimed acts will be in esteemed company, joining the likes of Take That, Wolf Alice, Coldplay, Jessie Ware, Muse, Tinie Tempah, Florence + the Machine, Craig David, Ed Sheeran, Blur, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, The Killers, Calvin Harris and Mark Ronson as artists to have played War Child’s heralded shows. The three nights will be raising funds to ensure that children affected by conflict in areas including Iraq, Jordan and the Central African Republic, are given the support they need in schools to ensure they can recover from the psychological trauma of growing up in an area blighted by war and learn to live again.

Jon Hopkins is an Ivor Novello Award nominee and two-time Mercury Prize shortlisted producer, who has collaborated with the likes of Massive Attack, Brian Eno, Coldplay and Herbie Hancock over a 20 year career. Combining his classical training with a love for electronic music, Hopkins’ 5 studio albums and 4 film soundtracks have brought him widespread critical acclaim, with 2013’s Immunity being shortlisted for the Hyundai Mercury Prize and Singularity, out earlier this year, becoming his first LP to break into the UK top 10. His live shows are in high demand and this summer has seen him tour Europe, playing Primavera, Parklife, Melt! Festival, Latitude Festival and Lovebox Festival, amongst many others. Hopkins will be fronting a special performance alongside Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip) and more Special Guests to be announced at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 25th November.

Tom Misch has come a long way since making beats in his bedroom and uploading them to Soundcloud, but his DIY approach still remains and it’s what has ensured he now has over 2.5 million monthly listeners on the platform. His laidback, positive, jazz-inflected style has seen him win an army of fans and his debut LP Geography came out in April to rave reviews, giving Misch a top 10 album at his first attempt. His live shows see him on guitar and vocals, often joined by a long list of collaborators from his native South London, which includes Loyle Carner, Jordan Rakei and Novelist. He’ll be bringing some of these friends with him for his show at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 26th November and support will come from his sister Laura Misch.

As their name would suggest, Everything Everything’s frenetic sound draws upon a huge range of musical influences, from hip hop to afrobeat via R&B and a myriad of rock styles. Their fourth album, the Mercury Prize shortlisted Fever Dream, sees them channel early Warp Records artists such as Aphex Twin and Autechre, mixed with the heavy American bands of the 90’s. The result is a unique, synth-stabbed, electronica-infused, high octane record that reflects the surrealness of the world today. Their energetic performance will end the third and final night at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 27th November.

War Child’s Learn to Live campaign, supported by the Evening Standard and Independent is focusing on the voices of the 1 in 6 children who live in war zones globally today. Through twinning London schools with children in war zones, it aims to increase links and encourage understanding of the challenges faced by children growing up in a conflict areas. Alongside this, they will be calling on the UK government to prioritize mental health and psychosocial support provision, in schools, for children affected by conflict. It will officially come to an end with the Safe and Sound concerts as a fitting celebration and campaign finale.

About War Child

War Child is the only specialist charity for children affected by conflict. For more than two decades we’ve been driven by a single goal – for no child’s life to be torn apart by war. We aim to reach children as early as possible when conflict breaks out and stay to support them through their recovery – keeping them safe, helping them learn and cope with their experiences, and equipping them with skills for the future.

We understand children’s needs, respect their rights, and put them at the centre of the solution - from supporting Syrian children to access education, to rehabilitating ex-child soldiers in the Central African Republic, and promoting justice for young people in detention in Afghanistan.

We also campaign for changes to policies and practices to support children in conflict, working with children and young people themselves to demand their rights.

Together with our partners we deliver our vital, life-saving work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and Latin America. In 2017 alone, we reached more than half a million children.
