#NoMatterWhat

We're celebrating the amazing humanitarian workers who support children affected by conflict. #NoMatterWhat

The 19th August marks World Humanitarian Day, a chance to celebrate the incredible dedication of humanitarian aid workers that continue to make a difference in people’s lives around the world.

This awareness day was established by the UN in 2008, to honour humanitarian workers who continue to go above and beyond, risking their lives in some of the most challenging and dangerous places on Earth to deliver life-saving aid and support to communities in need.

This year’s theme: #NoMatterWhat: Humanitarians Deliver, shines a light on the heroes who work tirelessly to deliver aid and support to communities in crisis. Whether they are providing shelter, or delivering essential supplies, humanitarian aid workers are committed to helping the most vulnerable, even if that means putting their own lives at risk. Their efforts ensure that even those caught up in overlooked conflicts, areas that are rarely captured by the news but desperately need help, receive the support they need.

At War Child, we are proud to be a part of this global effort. Our teams, alongside our local partners, are committed to supporting children and families caught up in armed conflicts, whether they are in the spotlight or not. This year’s World Humanitarian Day campaign: #ActForHumanity, emphasizes the urgent need to protect both humanitarian aid workers and civilians by upholding International Humanitarian Law. In recent months, there has been a troubling increase in attacks on humanitarian workers, as well as schools, hospitals and other areas that constitute safe spaces for civilians. This alarming trend highlights the need for stronger protection and international support. It is crucial for us to advocate for the safety and security of our colleagues and partners who make such an impact on people’s lives.

Let’s take this moment together to celebrate their ongoing dedication to ensure that, no matter how big the challenge, they have the backing they need to deliver aid and support to those in crisis.

These incredible individuals are the backbone of our efforts to create a better and more hopeful world for children in conflict zones. Their continuous commitment and resilience provide the essential help and hope to vulnerable communities around the world. Together, let’s support their mission and work towards a future where every child can thrive in a safe and hopeful environment.
