World Refugee Day 2023

Famous faces come together to support World Refugee Day with new Bella Freud t-shirt for War Child.

The world is currently facing an unprecedented refugee crisis as 108.4 million people find themselves displaced with an estimated 43.3 million of them innocent children – almost 40% of the total.

As the world marks World Refugee Day, War Child are asking people to purchase their own ‘Peace and Love’ t-shirt to support War Child’s work with refugees including in Ukraine, Syria and Yemen.

Fashion designer Bella Freud's latest ‘Peace and Love’ t-shirt for War Child  has been released for this year’s World Refugee Day, which will take place on Tuesday, June 20.

War Child’s Strategic Projects Manager, Emily Simms, said:

“All refugees deserve compassion, dignity, and a chance at a brighter future. By purchasing a ‘Peace and Love’ t-shirt, War Child can then transform adversity into opportunity, ignite hope amidst despair, and empower those forced to flee their homes with the tools and support they need to rebuild their lives.”

"I'm honoured to be supporting War Child this World Refugee Day. Their dedication to providing support and protection to children affected by war and displacement is impressive.

Peace and Love is the antithesis of war. War is barbaric and permits the collapse of humane behaviour and the absenting of accountability for cruelty. There is not enough political will invested in avoiding war.

Let us stand together in solidarity with refugees around the world, acknowledging their strength and resilience in the face of adversity. By purchasing a Peace and Love t-shirt for War Child, we can send a powerful message of empathy and support, letting refugees know that they are not alone in their journey towards hope."
