Start Network membership statement on the ongoing situation in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory

The Start Network membership of more than 80 local, national, and international aid organisations is deeply worried by the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The recent arrival of aid through the Rafah crossing is wholly inadequate for the millions of Gazans facing an increasingly desperate situation.

Signatories from our membership demand:

  • An immediate ceasefire.
  • Significantly increased and sustained humanitarian aid, including water, food, fuel and medical supplies.
  • Protection of civilians and humanitarian workers on all sides.

We condemn violence in all forms and are extremely concerned with the recent escalation. All parties must obey international humanitarian law (IHL) and ensure that human dignity is maintained without exception.
