Sound & Vision raises £140,000 for War Child

War Child is thrilled to announce that its Sound & Vision 2025 online auction, inspired by Kate Bush’s lyric “And if I only could, I’d make a deal with God” from Running Up That Hill has raised £140K.

The auction, which ran from 28 October to 13 November, featured original works by 52 leading artists, and was supported by a London exhibition at Iconic Images Gallery.

Auction highlights included two original standout pieces by Peter Doig. “That
Hill” fetched £44,000 and “Child of War” raised £50,000.

Kate Bush commented: “All wars leave horrific scars; ruined lives, families ripped apart, life-changing injuries, trauma, and loss on a massive scale – but it’s the children who suffer the most in so many ways. Their past, present and future melt away into fear and uncertainty. It is more important than ever we support War Child and their invaluable work providing immediate aid to children caught in conflict all over the world including in Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, and Syria. Projects like Sound & Vision harness the power of art and music to make a real difference to children living through war. Thank you for supporting this project.”

Charlotte Nimmo, Fundraising Engagement Director at War Child UK, said: “We are
absolutely delighted with the outcome of Sound & Vision 2025. Raising £140,000 in
support of our programmes is a huge achievement. The generosity of the artists,
bidders and Kate Bush herself is incredible— this is more than an art sale; it’s a lifeline for children affected by war.”

Gemma Peppé, curator and Founder of Art on a Postcard, added: “The auction's
outcome has surpassed all our expectations and targets. After all the hard work the
artists put in and their generous support of War Child, this is a significant achievement for everyone involved.”
