Guiding Light X War Child UK

#bravehood is a global emergency initiative launched by the non-profit organisation Guiding Light in partnership with War Child and in collaboration with world-renowned artists to help children affected by conflict when and where it is needed most urgently.

This joint initiative will support children affected by conflict by distributing money to War Child’s programmes around the world, where and when it is needed most urgently. Over the last 12 months this has included Ukraine and the recent devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.  

Every day, War Child are on the ground, in communities and in camps offering safe spaces where they can deliver life-changing services and support to help children heal, recover and learn for the chance of a better future. They also respond to emergency crisis situations where they deliver immediate and critical care to help those who need them most, when they need them most.  

Since 1993, War Child has been the only specialist charity for children affected by conflict, circumstances which affect one in every six children in the world. War Child reached over 250,000 children and adults in 2022. With the help of Guiding Light it is possible to have a long-lasting impact on the most innocent in our society.  

 

About #bravehood

Christian Stiegler and Ramona Kandinger, the founders of #bravehood and directors of Guiding Light, are passionately behind this campaign and the desire to help children in need. Their idea: to help children affected by conflict in emergency situations like in Ukraine, Syria and Turkey by selling eco-friendly and sustainably produced T-shirts and tote bags printed with well-known song lyrics. All items are made of organic cotton and have been eco-friendly certified. In addition, they are printed on demand to protect the environment, avoid waste and secure ethical behaviour in supply chains in the clothing industry. The goal: To raise money for children affected by conflict all over the world. 

 

And the response was enormous: Some of the best-known stars of the music scene were immediately willing to donate lyrics to their most popular and beloved songs for the #bravehood campaign. The impressive line-up currently includes Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, R.E.M., Nick Cave, Alanis Morissette, Paul Simon, Garbage, Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries, Dido, Glen Hansard, Natalie Merchant, Wilco, and Wir sind Helden. And the list gets longer every day. 

 

All song lyrics such as "Lights will guide you home" (Coldplay), "We are hope despite the times" (R.E.M.), and "Come sail your ships around me" (Nick Cave) come from the heart and are messages for hope, peace, unity and courage. The lyric collection is available for purchase online at www.supportbravehood.org through the end of May. This gives everyone the opportunity to send messages of courage to the world to help children, but at the same time find personal meanings in the lyrics for difficult times as the heartfelt responses on social media show.

About GUIDING LIGHT
