£1,778,406 raised for our Unlock a Generation appeal

In March 2022, we announced that the UK government would be matching public donations to our Unlock a Generation appeal.

Through the collective energies of our amazing supporters and the UK public, we smashed our target of £600,000, raising an incredible £1,778,406 including £820,020 of match funding from the UK government.

Thank you to everyone who supported our appeal! Whether you donated, entered a prize draw, went to a gig, tuned in to a live stream, took part in Peace Band, or took on your own fundraising challenge, your efforts have added up to something truly amazing meaning we can reach even more children in war zones who need our support.

The money raised ensures we can respond quickly to the unfolding crisis in Ukraine and support War Child’s broader work around the world making sure that children, and the rights of children in areas of conflict around the world, are protected and upheld – to give every child the chance of a better, safer future.

In Ukraine, we are focusing on creating child-friendly spaces, delivering much-needed psychological support to children, and offering cash assistance to families who have been left with nothing.

The matched funding from the UK government will support a project in Yemen that will increase access to employment, education, and child protection support, and empower local communities to build resilience for the long-term, so they can better protect their children and keep them in school. In doing so, we can help end the nightmare and ‘unlock a generation’ of children and young girls in Yemen to fulfil their potential.

By increasing access to employment, education, and protection support, we will empower local communities to respond to the crisis and build resilience for the long-term, so that children and particularly young girls, don’t have to resort to early marriage and child labour, but instead continue their education and protect their futures.

War Child couldn't do this without your generosity and support. Thank you.
