Call for immediate ceasefire to halt further attacks on children

Overnight, the escalation in Gaza has intensified rapidly. Airstrikes have reached an unprecedented level, virtually all communication lines have been cut off and 125 children have been killed.

War Child deeply condemns the killing and maiming of children and calls on world leaders to secure an immediate ceasefire.

Calling – louder than ever – on world leaders.

As an organisation committed to protecting children affected by conflict, War Child is calling on world leaders to secure an immediate ceasefire. This is the most critical measure to prevent any more loss of civilian lives and facilitate humanitarian assistance in a meaningful way.

“This is an unthinkable humanitarian tragedy with catastrophic and unacceptable consequences for children”, says War Child Country Director in the occupied Palestinian territory, Sahar Smoom. “The United Nations General Assembly resolution calls for an immediate and sustained humanitarian truce. The international community cannot stand by and let this catastrophe continue. Silence is unforgivable. We must act now and not a minute later.”
