The appeal will be voiced by Claudia Hammond - presenter of All in the Mind on Radio 4 and Health Check on the BBC World Service - and will highlight our vital work in Ukraine, where children and their caregivers face the devastating mental health consequences of war.

Since the full-scale invasion in 2022, War Child and our partners have been working alongside psychologists and social workers to deliver psychological first aid to children and their families, an evidence-based intervention, recognised by the World Health Organisation.

It helps reduce acute distress, restore emotional stability and protect against long-term trauma. For children who need extra help, we provide one-to-one counselling and connect them with specialist services.

Three years on, the war in Ukraine continues to cause mass civilian casualties and lasting psychological harm to tens-of-thousands of children.

We cannot stop the violence, but we can help children heal so they are not defined, or destroyed, by war. Together, we can make a difference.

Tune in

Please tune in to our appeal and if you can, make a donation once the appeal is live on Sunday 28 September. Every gift will be doubled, thanks to two generous supporters who will match donations up to a combined total of £15,000.
