What is personal data?
It is personal information that can be used to identify you, for example your name, address, date of birth, and personal email address. It might also include information about anytime you’ve interacted with us.
What about photos and videos?
We may take photos and videos at our events. It is your choice whether you want to have your photo taken or be in our videos. We will always ask you first if you are happy for us to share these photos and videos on our website, social media (like Instagram and Facebook). If you do not want to be seen in any photo or video, you can tell someone who works at War Child.
Why do you have this information about me?
We collect information on any person who has interacted with War Child. This could be money you have given us as a donation or participating in an activity to help raise money for us. We may also collect information from our partners like TikTok or Facebook if you have supported War Child in any way on their website or app. We keep this information so we know what you have done to support our organisation.
What do you do with my information?
We keep your information on our systems. Only people in our organisation who need to can see your details. If you buy something from our shop or enter a prize draw, we will use the email address you provide to send you a confirmation message. If you are under 18 years old, we will only use this information to learn about what you have done to support our organisation. We will never sell or share your information to anyone.
How can I find out what information you have about me?
It is your right to know what information we have about you. You can contact us any time and ask us to share all the information we have about you. We will only share this information with you and your legal guardian.
What can I do about the information you have about me?
Your rights also mean you can:
- Ask us how we collect and use your information
- Ask for a copy of your information
- Ask us to change your information if you think it’s incorrect
- Ask us to delete your information where you do not want us to keep it
- Complain about us to the person who protects your privacy rights. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://ico.org.uk).
How long do you keep my information?
We keep it for as long as we need it. When we don’t need it anymore, we will delete it safely and make sure no one will ever see it again.
