We cannot look away whilst children in Sudan are being violently attacked and killed. This is the world’s worst humanitarian crisis and the consequences for 15 million children are catastrophic. We are urging the UK Government to:

  • End attacks on civilians: Keir Starmer must do everything in his power to secure long-term protection for Sudanese and South Sudanese children affected by this conflict.
  • Protect children at risk of trafficking and being recruited into armed groups: Ongoing fighting and unrest is separating families and leaving thousands of children vulnerable and alone. The UK Government must work with the UN Security Council to keep these children safe.
  • Stop the flow of arms into Sudan. The UK government must extend the current arms embargo to include the whole of Sudan, not just the Darfur region, to ensure no UK-made weapons are involved in the brutal massacre of innocent children and their families.
  • Insist that humanitarian organisations get access to El Fasher and other areas cut off from aid agencies. Humanitarian agencies must be allowed to reach all children with lifesaving aid and protection immediately.

Petition Text to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer

Not on our watch:  Tell Keir Starmer, do not turn your back on Sudan.

Dear Prime Minister,

15 million children in Sudan, South Sudan and neighbouring countries are in desperate need of help. The scale of brutal killings, injury and sexual abuse is unprecedented. Children and their families are terrified. They are being forced to flee from their homes, leaving everything they know and own behind.

For more than 30 years, War Child UK has worked tirelessly on the frontline of conflicts to protect children, and Sudan is no different. We are working with trusted partners, reaching children with vital aid and protection in some of the hardest to reach areas of the country. But every day more and more children are left injured, traumatised and alone - torn away from their families by this violent conflict. We urge you not to turn your back on the most vulnerable children. They need us now more than ever.

The UK Government must do everything in its power to protect children in Sudan, South Sudan and neighbouring countries now.

We call on you to:

  • End attacks on civilians. Children and their families are being targeted in the most horrific and violent attacks. The UK Government must do everything in its power to secure long-term protection for Sudanese and South Sudanese children affected by this conflict.
  • Protect children at risk of trafficking and being recruited into armed groups. Ongoing fighting and unrest is separating families and leaving thousands of children vulnerable and alone. The risk of trafficking, abuse and recruitment into armed groups is higher than ever.
Children trapped inside the city of El Fasher are being killed, injured and traumatised every day. Humanitarian agencies must be allowed to reach all children with lifesaving aid and protection immediately.

Prime Minister, you have expressed great concern for the people of Sudan and South Sudan, living through this brutal war. We urge you now to join us and do everything in your power to help children who are being killed, injured, abused and traumatised.

Sincerely,
