Street Children and Children in Conflict with the Law

Overview: Students will be given the opportunity to research the plight of street children and engage in a mock debate. They will adopt the roles of a Parliamentary Committee and a lobbying charity during the task. Students will need to research political issues, respond to media influence and use their skills of persuasion during the debate.

Objectives:

  • To reflect on how your life compares with the lives of children living in conflict related poverty.
  • To understand how charities and governments interact.
  • To be able to select relevant information gathered during research.
  • To develop strong arguments.
  • To be able to respond to various points of view and evaluate different perspectives.
