Iraq is facing a humanitarian disaster. Years of conflict, state brutality and international sanctions have left Iraq deeply impoverished. The physical, social and emotional impact of the current war has made things worse.

Violence continues to increase in a conflict that by June 2006 had killed 655,000 civilians and displaced more than 3 million people.

War Child in Iraq

One child dies every 5 minutes in Iraq. 1.5 million children have been displaced, 1 in 5 are malnourished and almost half can't go to school.

We are the only international child protection agency working in south Iraq. By working directly with children and their communities we have made children's lives more safer and more secure.
