UGANDA

Education

In Northern Uganda we’re supporting children who’ve missed out on education due to the war. War Child is helping re-enrol them in schools, provide vocational and professional training and set up youth groups in communities and schools. In particular, we are working with girls who were abducted by the LRA – many of whom were raped and so now have children of their own. We also work with disabled children and enable them to attend the only school with a disability unit in Pader.

Livelihood support for orphans and vulnerable children

War Child develops care plans for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). We conduct adult literacy classes as well as vocational and micro-enterprise training for households caring for OVC. We’re also distributing start-up grants enabling families to start up their own small enterprises.

Child Protection

We’re also working with communities to form Child Protection Committees that monitor, prevent, report and where appropriate respond to child protection issues of violence, abuse and exploitation. Read more about our commitees.

We're a SMALL charity so your donations make a BIG difference to the children we work with.
