Charity art exhibition in Birmingham

11 August 2010

On the 6th of August the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress opened the charity art exhibition during the private view at Ward End Library's Gallery Space in Birmingham.

The opening was a success and thirteen paintings were sold as well as donations received. The exhibition entitled 'The Road to Peace' was a collection of mixed media paintings exploring issues of contemporary war with the aim of promoting peace, recognising and remembering all those who suffer in the name of war.

The exhibition was in aid of four charities supporting different victims of war. They were Amnesty International, War Child, Children of Peace and BLESMA (British Limbless Ex-Servicemen's Association). The Lord Mayor, councillor Len Gregory was very appreciative of the exhibition having just come from a soldier's funeral and very supportive of the idea of peace for all as evident in his speech.

The exhibition will continue until the 28th August and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to charity.
