D.R. Congo officially the world's worst country to live in
The latest UN Human Development Index, published today, ranks the Democratic Republic of Congo as the 'least developed' country in the world. Once again, Norway came out on top, The UK slipped down to 28th and D.R. Congo has now fallen to the very bottom.
In many respects, it's not hard to see why. The country has been devastated by decades of conflict and the horrific levels of rape and sexual violence in the east of the country have given the area the unwanted moniker of being the 'rape capital of the world'.
We're on the ground there - supporting street children in Kinshasa and former child soldiers and vulnerable girls in Goma. Despite the doom and gloom of the being labelled as the worst country in the planet to live, it's also an incredibly beautiful one and we're constantly inspired by the warmth and compassion of many of its people.
