Fundraising event:

Cycling 2,000km from Cairo to Khartoum

How much did you raise:

Currently stands at £5,310

What motivated you to do this event?:

Cycling and sand don’t usually mix so the idea of crossing through the deserts of Egypt and Sudan on a bike very much appealed!

I felt very privileged camping in the desert seeing some amazing sunrises and sunsets. The people throughout the trip were amazingly hospitable and in Sudan in particular, incredibly generous. And I learnt that dead camels really, really smell.

Why did you choose to raise money for War Child?:

I wanted to support one of Deutsche Bank’s charities of the year and given the history of the region, particularly Sudan, it seemed very appropriate to support the work that War Child does in protecting children living in war zones throughout the world.
