War Child International
War Child UK is a member of War Child International, a group which also includes War Child Holland and War Child Canada.
The three organisations share similar aims and goals but work independently but in coordination with each other.
War Child Holland currently runs projects in Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Israel, Palestine, Kosovo, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Sri Lanka and Chechnya. Their emphasis is on psypho-social assistance for children in former war zones, using music and sport to enable children to express themselves.
War Child Canada work in ten countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of Congo and Sri Lanka. They are one of only two Canadian NGOs operating in Darfur. Their work includes the establishment of vocational training centres, legal aid provision and child rights training.
There are three further War Child offices in Ireland, USA and Australia. These offices raise funds for projects run by War Child UK.
War Child Ireland launched in 2006 and raises money specifically for our work in Democratic Republic of Congo.
War Child Australia has been running since 2002 and now helps us fund all our projects. In 2006 they raised more than AUD $106,000, most of which helped provide small business grants for former child soldiers in Democratic Republic of Congo.
War Child USA has raised funds for a number of projects. The long-running Girls' Night Out book series has been a particularly successful fundraiser. The USA office is currently closed for re-structuring. It is hoped that it will reopen in 2008.
