You will have a deep understanding of child protection and participatory rights based programming, experience of managing projects in conflict affected locations, both directly and remotely, and will be able to demonstrate a successful portfolio of institutional fundraising and grant management experience. Team building, developing organisational capacity in a meaningful and strategic way, and security management will be among your core competencies.

Salary: £43,000

Pension: 5% of gross salary requiring a matching contribution from you.
Flexi-time: Start 8am/10am; leave 4pm/6pm.

Application

A complete Job Description and Person Specification can be found in the Application Pack below. Please read this fully before beginning your application.

War Child is a small and very busy charity so if you do not fulfill our requirements as a minimum then please do not apply as it diverts valuable resources from our core work.

All applications are to be submitted to Erika Hamer (erika@warchild.org.uk)

All applications are by:

  • a covering letter of absolutely no more than 2 pages at font 12 and standard margins (including addresses) which explains why you feel you are the right person for us
  • your CV of absolutely no more than 4 pages (again font 12 with standard margins)

Interviews will particularly seek to establish that you have the skills, experience and qualities that we need, and so we will be expecting you to provide verifiable examples of them. You will be expected to have read our child protection policy. This policy is a fundamental expression of our values and so you will be asked questions about your views on it. If you are offered the job you will be required to sign up to it as part of your contractual obligation, and to undergo a CRB check.

If you are invited for interview you will be expected to inform us of the notice period and provide us with you’re start date should we decide to offer you the post.

If you are offered the position you will be required to provide three references. Two of them will be from your two most recent employers, including your current employer. The third will be a notable character reference of your choice. We require written references and will follow up with a call to your referees in order to seek clarification and verify particular points raised during your interview.
