Description
War Child is looking for a creative individual to support its online work. Working across www.warchild.org.uk, www.warchildmusic.com and our profiles on Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, Flickr and Bebo the Online Assistant will play a vital role in the continuing development of War Child’s online presence. The role is a great opportunity to gain experience in new media, journalism and marketing.The successful applicant will:
- Research and write content for War Child’s websites and social network profiles.
- Proactively engage with War Child’s existing online communities and seek to grow these.
- Research trends in digital campaigning, fundraising and music.
- Assist in the identification of new online opportunities for War Child and (where appropriate) begin to develop these.
Working arrangements:
This will be a 3 month placement, full time, 5 days a week, starting as soon as possible. Flexible working arrangements (including working from home) may be possible.
This role involves working at War Child’s offices in London (NW5). The Online Assistant reports to the Online Campaigns Manager.
This is a voluntary position, with lunch and travel costs provided.

Experience:
- Use of social networking sites (including MySpace and Facebook)
Knowledge:
- Online trends/technology
- Youth market/trends
Skills:
- Writing for young people/youth audience
- HTML (basic)
DESIRABLE:
Experience:
- Updating a website using a Content Management System
- Online research
Knowledge:
- Flickr, YouTube and Bebo
- Current music scene
Skills:
- Writing for the web
- Image editing (Photoshop, Picassa etc.)
- Web development/design
